Iowa Weather Report September 23rd 2014

FALLING INTO AUTUMN: The next few days will be mainly quiet across the state, however a disturbance today into the first half of Wednesday could bring some showers and storms across the western half of the state, mainly along and west of Interstate 35. In the eastern counties, skies should remain mostly sunny today with a noticeable increase in the cloudiness on Wednesday with readings both today and tomorrow staying mainly in the lower and middle 70s for highs. Thursday through Sunday looks to be dry across the state with plenty of sunshine and highs mainly in the 70s across the state.

NEXT WEEK INTO OCTOBER: The next significant storm system will be across the state next Tuesday and Wednesday and the GFS shows that it could linger in the eastern counties a bit longer than that. We’ll watch for any trends in future runs. Much cooler air is shown to come down from Canada following the system with several what we could term Alberta Clippers moving southeastward across the area. This would bring sharp cool downs followed by quick moderation. We’ll watch this to see if this pattern trend continues as well.
