THE WEEKEND AHEAD: It will be warm with partly to mostly sunny skies today. Highs will be from the 70s in the eastern counties to the lower and middle 80s in the western counties. Winds will be from the south and southwest ahead of a storm system that will move through late tonight through the day on Saturday. The shower and thunderstorm chances will be widely scattered and current trends are showing that the moisture will be hit and miss across the state. Some areas may not even get any rain from this system at all and those that do may only get a quarter inch or less. Sunday looks to be mainly sunny with readings in the 70s.
AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK: Monday will be a carbon copy of Sunday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower and middle 70s. A disturbance will pass through the state Tuesday and Wednesday with some widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. There’s a better chance of seeing some rain out of this system than that one coming through tonight into Saturday but we’ll have to see what upcoming models may show. Readings will begin to warm as we’ll be under a ridge with the main storm track well to our north toward the middle and end of next week.
LOOKING AHEAD: As we head into the extended period, the GFS is showing a more active weather pattern with a few storm systems that may bring decent chances of showers and thunderstorms to the area. Of course this may change in the coming days but we’ll keep watching for any trends that may form.
