All of Iowa, Forecast

Iowa Weather Report August 25th 2014

RAIN RAIN RAIN: The GFS shows chances of precipitation for most of the week across the state. This will not be all-day rains by any means but some heavy rains are certainly possible. This may lead to some localized flash flooding in some areas. Readings will be varied across the state dependent on where you are with relation to the slow moving cold front that will be traversing the state during the week. To the north, readings will be in the 70s, to the south, middle 80s to low 90s will be possible. This will be very fluid as the front could move north or south and change the forecast dramatically as a result.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND: Current thinking is the beginning of the weekend could see isolated showers or storms with clear skies Sunday and Monday with readings near seasonal levels at this point. We’ll see if this trend continues as we move ahead.

FARTHER OUT: The pattern looks to become zonal as we head farther into September with a few systems here and there. The main jet stream looks to move to our north through the end of the period which may bring warmer readings as we near the middle part of the month.
