MORE OF THE SAME: The next few days show no sign of changing with skies remaining sunny in the morning with a few clouds building up during the afternoon hours. We can’t completely rule out a shower around but most places will remain dry. Readings will be in the 80s today through Monday.
PRECIPITATION: The next system will move in by Tuesday and lasting possibly through Thursday at least. The timing has slowed down more than likely due to the slowing of the weather pattern with Tropical Storm Bertha expected to recurve off the east coast this weekend and early next week. This will in fact likely cause the first day of the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines to be somewhat showery. Some decent amounts of rain could be possible with this event, but as we’re not quite set in the timing as yet, we’ll hold off on exact amounts for the time being. Highs will be a bit cooler with the amount of cloudiness around. Readings in the 70s to lower 80s will be likely across the state.
FAIR WEATHER: Implying that the weather during the fair will be “fair” could be an understatement. The pattern will begin zonal until a trough looks to drop into the northern Rockies which would bring a storm around the second half of the fair. A vigorous storm looks to come through around the 15th and 16th of August. Timing of this could change so we’ll watch to see if this continues in future runs.
