No real changes to the forecast for the next week to two weeks. A few notables are that the GFS is slowing down the timing of the rain chances for next week from Tuesday to Tuesday night or Wednesday of next week. We’ll see if this slowing continues in future model runs. The zonal flow looks to continue into the extended period before a ridge builds over the east and a trough in the west. This would tend to bring much warmer weather to the state toward the middle of the month of August (around the middle of State Fair in Des Moines). There is some chances of showers and storms during this time, but with a ridge building and pattern shifts in the extended period from earlier runs, we have little confidence in this solution at this time.
