NO CHANGES: Nothing looks to change over the next several days. Sunshine with afternoon clouds seems to be the rule at least through Monday. We could see an isolated shower form here and there mainly in the eastern counties but these chances are very slim to none. Highs will remain constant in the middle 70s to middle 80s across the state with readings being a bit warmer toward the weekend into Monday.

NEXT BEST CHANCE OF RAIN: A system looks to drop into the state Tuesday through next Thursday that may bring us the next best chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms. This model run shows the system more disorganized than what was seen yesterday so our confidence isn’t great with what this system could bring us. The pattern however looks stable, as the trough over the east and the ridge over the west flatten into a zonal flow across the country. This would in turn bring a few more systems our way which could bring repeated chances of showers and storms. Unfortunately this would look to occur just as the Iowa State Fair is set to begin a week from this Thursday. Toward the end of the period a new surge of cool Canadian air drops into the country from the northwest. This would bring a system in that looks more like a spring time system than one in the depths of summer. Confidence in this system is low as we’ve seen no trends forming for the middle of the month. We’ll have to wait and see.
