CHANCES OF RAIN: The threat of showers and thunderstorms will return later today as a system moves in from the west. Most of the state should see partly to mostly sunny skies during the day. There will be a noticeable increase in the cloudiness in the afternoon hours. There could be an isolated shower or storm during the afternoon hours in the western half of the state. Highs today will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Tonight the threat moves across the state and looks to last through the day on Friday. Readings on Friday will be in the upper 70s northeast to lower 90s southwest, where skies will clear early and some sunshine will be out once more. The eastern counties should see clouds for most of the day which will keep the temperatures lower. An early day shower in the far eastern counties on Saturday and perhaps an isolated afternoon shower or storm in the northeastern counties Sunday afternoon looks to be the only precipitation chances we will see this weekend. Highs will be in the 80s on Saturday, dropping into the upper 70s to lower 80s on Sunday.
ENDING JULY: Heading into next week, cooler than average readings will return with highs in the 70s to near 80 Monday through Wednesday. Wednesday into Thursday a disturbance could bring another chance of precipitation at that time, but it looks somewhat disorganized at this point. Outside of that readings should remain a few degrees either side of 80 as we end the month of July and head into August.
BEGINNING AUGUST: The northwesterly flow looks to continue for a few days into August before the flow flattens out slightly. This would bring below normal readings for the first few days before seeing moderation to seasonal levels for the rest of the period. Some storms are possible but timing those out this far out is very difficult so we’ll just keep watching at this time.
