ROUNDS OF STORMS: No big changes regarding the multi-day spell of showers and thunderstorms across the state. There will be rounds of showers and thunderstorms mainly during the overnight into the morning hours with some isolated activity during the daylight hours through at least Monday. Readings during this period will be mainly in the 80s with some lower 90s possible in some areas as we get into the weekend. Severe weather is possible especially by the weekend but it’s still too early to determine the risk at this time with the amount of storms we may see between now and then. Rainfall through Monday could easily be 1-2” with some areas getting less and others getting more.
A BREAK: A cold front will come through Monday that will take the showers and thunderstorms out of the state for at least two days (Tuesday and Wednesday). This will also lower readings back into the upper 70s to middle 80s across the state with lower humidity as well. A warm front on Thursday could bring a shower or storm around but on an isolated basis.
DOLDRUMS OF SUMMER: The warm front that will move through the state on Thursday will bring some warmer and drier air into the state for several days according to this run of the GFS. We may see some lingering showers and storms on Friday the 4th (but most of the activity should be gone by fireworks time). Thereafter the weekend would be dry and warm with readings possibly into the upper 80s to lower 90s. A slight cool down around the 8th and 9th could bring more storms to the state at that time before the ridge looks to build back in again toward the end of the period. We’ll see if this trend continues on future runs.
