SCATTERED ACTIVITY: Today will be a mainly dry day across the state, however we can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm popping up during the afternoon. Highs today will be in the upper 70s to middle 80s. These temperatures will slowly warm through the rest of the week into the 80s to lower 90s as shower and thunderstorm chances also will be on the increase as well. The best chance of seeing any precipitation will be during the overnight hours into the morning. Most of the daylight hours will be mainly dry with partly to mostly sunny skies with a slight chance of seeing any precipitation during that time. This will be difficult as some places may get rain on several nights and other places may only get some once or twice. With this rainfall amounts will be wide ranging through the period, with an inch or so being a common amount across the state through at least the weekend. We can’t determine at this point whether any of these storms could become severe, but it is possible. We’ll see if we can pinpoint some of this down as we move along.
HEADING ON INTO JULY: The model continues to show a pattern change with a ridge developing over the area bringing much drier conditions and much warmer temperatures to the state as well. This run doesn’t show the ridge to be as strong but nevertheless if this were to pass, we would see readings well into the 90s with sunshine around. We still wouldn’t be able to completely get rid of the chance of precipitation but the chances would be slim to none at best. We’ll continue to monitor.
