POLYGON

POLYGON Issuance #12 Went Viral Times Two

This issuance of POLYGON on Friday May 23rd talked with Matt Laubhan, the chief meteorologist at WTVA in Tupelo MS where he has been since 2011. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas. He interned at KMBC in Kansas City MO under Bryan Busby before taking his talents south to the Texas Panhandle and the Caprock of Lubbock where he the morning meteorologist at KAMC in Lubbock before becoming the chief meteorologist at KLBK in Lubbock as well. He talked about his town there and how he met his wife Emily there along with the first time he went viral when he proposed to her on air during a “supposed taped sports segment”. He talked about his move to Tupelo with his wife and how their faith seemingly brought them there.

Matt’s first day on air happened to be April 15th, which was the day of the tornado outbreak that many people in the south have seemingly forgotten (except those that were adversely effected). Less than two weeks later, the biggest outbreak in the south occurred. He discussed in detail a tornado that occurred that morning and how it looked more like a hurricane. We then went into detail on the April 28th outbreak this year (where we went viral again for telling everyone to go to shelter as the tornado was moving through the city of Tupelo). There was several other discussions we had as well and you can see all of them on the show.

SHOUT-OUTS: Matt mentioned http://www.createfoundation.com/MakeADonation.aspx?id=113 which is helping in the recovery from the April 28th event in and around Tupelo and northeastern Mississippi. Jeff didn’t mention one but Jeff forgot.
