The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight for a large portion of central into eastern Iowa. The main threats will be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. These storms will be very scattered and not everyone will get a storm, but any of these storms could become strong to severe. The timing of these storms looks to be in the afternoon hours with storms firing somewhere in central Iowa and then moving off to the east. Some of the storms may attain supercell characteristics before becoming linear (or into a line) and evolving into a MCS (Mesoscale Convective System) as it moves out of the state into Illinois by the evening hours. We will be on the watch out for any storms during the afternoon into the evening hours.
