Iowa Weather Report May 18th 2014

WARMER AND UNSETTLED: Temperatures will continue to warm today across the state with readings climbing into the upper 60s and lower 70s with mainly sunny skies. The next storm will move into the state late tonight and Monday with a chance of some showers and thunderstorms. The far eastern counties may get some sunshine before the storms move in however, with readings in the upper 60s through the 70s across the state.

STALLED OUT: A front will stall across the state bringing some chances of showers and storms through the week however there will be ample dry time intermixed with the precipitation as well along with some sunshine. Highs will be in the 70s and 80s through the week slowly cooling down as the week progresses but not by much. The best chance of any dry time looks to be Tuesday into Wednesday whereas the shower and storm chances increase once again through Friday as readings drop back a few degrees into the lower 70s at that time.

MEMORIAL DAY THRU JUNE: Nothing much has changed in the extended period with this run. It still looks active through the period into the beginning of June with some cooler readings toward the end of the period. Up until that point readings look to be near seasonal levels with several chances of precipitation around as well. We’ll see if we can pinpoint some of this down in later runs, but that doesn’t look likely at this point.
