The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has removed the majority of western Iowa out of the elevated risk of severe weather. Storms that were expected to fire earlier have not developed due to a strong capping inversion over the central plains at this time. This will eliminate the majority of the severe weather risk for the overnight hours. However, as the low level jet continues to strengthen, storms should begin brewing and produce some elevated thunderstorms. Any storms that do develop will still have some potential to produce large hail overnight.
