Strong Thunderstorms with Heavy Rain over Northern Iowa

At 6:51 PM, a line of strong thunderstorms with very heavy rains was along a line extending from near Mason City Municipal Airport to 7 miles south of Algona, and moving east at 30 mph. The line was essentially training and moving repetitively over the same locations.

Pea size hail and torrential rains are possible with these storms. Rainfall rates may exceed an inch per hour causing ponding of water on roads and in ditches, as well as rises in small streams and creeks.

Locations Impacted Include: Mason City, Algona, Garner, Britt, Nora Springs, Clear Lake, Mason City Municipal Airport, Eagle Lake, Ventura, Klemme, Wesley, Plymouth, Corwith, Bode, Lu Verne, Rock Falls, Duncan, St. Joseph, Miller, and Hayfield.

This includes interstate 35 between mile markers 187 and 201.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
