Iowa Weather Report April 16th 2014

SOMEWHAT ACTIVE: The weather pattern has some rain and perhaps a bit of snow mixed in over the next couple of days across the state. A storm system will move into the state later today bringing with it a chance of some rain showers mainly across the northern counties of the state. The rest of the state will see partly to mostly sunny skies will be found with readings in the 60s, with lower 50s closer to the Iowa Minnesota border. The front comes through on Thursday bringing with it some clouds but very little moisture along it. Readings will drop into the 40s and lower 50s across the state. There will be another disturbance that comes through on Friday that could bring some rain along with another one on Sunday. Readings will slowly warm into the weekend with some 50s and 60s possible by Sunday.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: Much warmer weather is in store next week ahead of a storm that looks to come through toward the end of the week. The model is suggesting that we could see some showers and thunderstorms by Thursday or Friday of next week. It’s too early to determine severe weather at this time. The active weather pattern looks to continue through the end of the month and into May with several systems that may bring showers and thunderstorms to the state. We’ll see if this is a trend that will continue or whether we see something else in the offing. We’ll have to wait and see.
