WARMING AHEAD: There will be plenty of sunshine around for the next several days with much warmer readings in store tomorrow across the state. Today we’ll have highs in the 50s to near 60. But tomorrow, the winds turn southwesterly and readings soar into the 60s and 70s. Some locales in western Iowa could approach 80 degrees. With the warm temperatures, breezy conditions and low relative humidity, we could see an increased fire danger especially in our southwestern counties where several burn bans are ongoing. A cold front will sweep through the state on Thursday with a very slight chance of a shower. Many areas may get by with no precipitation. Readings will drop back into the 60s Thursday and Friday.
WEEKEND WETDOWN: The next significant system comes through for the weekend. This could bring some showers and thunderstorms to the state. Much cooler air will follow into Monday with readings likely dropping back into the 40s and 50s for highs (if not slightly cooler than that). Rainfall at this point looks to be around a half inch or so with isolated heavier totals than that.
GOING ON THROUGH: Next week will start out cold but quickly warms up ahead of the next storm that looks to arrive toward the end of the week. Thereafter, readings look to be near seasonal levels through the end of the period with another storm around the 22nd or so. Still see no real trends developing at this point, but we’ll watch for any in the coming days.
