THE WEEK AHEAD: A few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm will be around the state today with readings in the 50s and lower 60s for highs. There will be some peaks of sunshine around as well as the chances of precipitation are around 30-50% so it will not be an all-day rain by any means. Tuesday will see plenty of sunshine statewide with readings roughly the same as today 50s to lower 60s for highs. Wednesday is the day when the readings are expected to shoot up into the 60s and 70s across the state. We could see a heightened danger for wildfires given the winds and the low relative humidity. A cold front will sweep through the state on Thursday but will only bring a few clouds and nothing more than that. It will cool readings down into the 50s and 60s for highs but Friday looks to see readings bump back into the 60s statewide with mainly sunny skies.
THE WEEKEND: Another cold front will come in from the northwest on Saturday which may trigger some showers and thunderstorms at that time. At this point, severe weather looks out of the question but we should get more pinpointed on that in the next few days. The precipitation may linger into Sunday as colder air sweeps down from Canada. This will drop readings into the upper 40s through the 50s across the state on Sunday with cloudy skies to start with slow clearing from northwest to southeast.
ON TO THE EXTENDED PERIOD: A bit of a flip in our thinking in the extended period with the GFS Model now showing cooler temperatures in the 8-14 day period with some chances of rain. This is different from the last several days which have shown near seasonal readings with some chances of showers and thunderstorms. We’ll see if this trend continues or it flips back to what we have been seeing over the last several days. Toward the end of the period, readings look to bump back to near and even above seasonal levels with a storm system approaching from the west which may bring some showers and thunderstorms at that time, but with the flip flopping going on, we’re not convinced of anything past 7 days at this point.
