MORE PRECIPITATION: A partly to mostly sunny day ahead for today but readings will be nothing close to the 60s and 70s we saw yesterday over the state. Highs today will be in the 40s and lower 50s. The next storm moves in on Wednesday bringing with it a chance of some rain and perhaps an embedded thunderstorm. Readings will be in the 40s. There will be a slight break between that storm and the next one Thursday night into Friday, but it still will stay mainly cloudy with some chance of rain around. The next system will bring more rain and embedded thunderstorms as well, with a possible change over to a wintry mix or all snow Friday evening as the precipitation comes to an end. Precipitation amounts could exceed an inch in parts of southern and southeastern Iowa with lesser amounts to the north and west. Readings will remain in the 40s through Friday.
SPLIT WEEKEND: Saturday will be partly to mostly sunny once again with readings in the 40s and 50s for highs. Sunday on the other hand looks wet once again with a chance of some showers. Highs will be roughly the same as on Saturday with 40s and 50s. The model run is also showing some chance of some rain as well on Monday and Tuesday as well, but we’ll need a day or two to fine tune that as we move along.
INTO THE MIDST OF APRIL: Some chances of showers and thunderstorms around in the extended period through the middle of the month, but this run shows a less active pattern than the one yesterday. Temperatures look to be near seasonal levels for the middle of April at this point, a trend we’ll continue to watch. A storm toward the end of the period still looks decent at this point, but we still have two weeks to look at it before coming to any conclusions.
