NEXT THREE DAYS: This weekend will see plenty of sunshine and warming temperatures across the state. Highs on Saturday will reach the upper 40s northeast to near 60 south and west. Sunday, the winds will be quite gusty out of the southwest with winds up to 30-40mph at times. Highs will be much warmer with highs in the 60s and 70s across the state. There will be a high chance of wildfires due to the strong winds and low relative humidity so be aware of that. The next system will come in late Sunday night into Monday with a chance of some showers and thunderstorms. Readings will be in the 60s in the eastern and southeastern counties of the state while the rest of the state will see readings hit their highs during the morning before falling back in the afternoon. There could be a changeover to a wintry mix in the far northern counties of the state, however most of the precipitation will be moving into Minnesota and Wisconsin, so this doesn’t look to be too much of a problem at this time. If things change, we’ll be sure to tell you.
THROUGH THE WEEK: Tuesday will be a bit cooler across the state with 40s and 50s as the next system will be approaching from the west. This will move in during the day on Wednesday bringing another chance of some showers and perhaps thunderstorms as well. On this model run, the system looks somewhat disorganized, but we’ll keep watching to see if things change in the coming days. Another storm on Friday could bring a cold rain to the state with a chance of some wet snow mixing in toward the evening hours. Again this will be watched for any changes or continued trends in the coming days.
FARTHER OUT: The extended period heading into the middle of April show cooler than average temperatures across the state with some chances of seeing some precipitation around. One storm around the 7th could bring some rain along with another around the 11th and 12th as well. Highs near to slightly below seasonal levels look somewhat likely, but we’ll wait to see if this trend continues in the coming days.
