All of Iowa, Forecast, Winter Weather

Iowa Weather Report March 16th 2014

UP AND DOWN: We will see some early snow in the southern counties that will quickly move off to the south and southeast. Skies will begin to clear with some sunshine around for most of the day across our northern counties. Temperatures however will be below seasonal levels with 20s in the north to near 40 in the south and southwest. Readings do rebound quickly on Monday as skies will be mainly sunny with readings in the 30s northeast to the lower 60s southwest. This will ahead of the next system which will move in late Monday night into Tuesday with some rain and or snow at that time. This may linger into early on Wednesday as the system departs with readings dropping back into the 30s and 40s across the state with slowly clearing skies.

ON THROUGH NEXT WEEKEND: Another weak disturbance looks to move through Thursday night into early Friday that may bring some sprinkles or flurries to the region but more than anything, it may just bring more clouds to the state. Readings will remain slightly below seasonal readings for the middle to latter half of March with 30s and 40s across the state. Saturday will be partly sunny with some clouds rolling in ahead of another disturbance that has little moisture to it. Readings look to remain below average at that time as well. The system will move into the state next Sunday with some precipitation but most of it looks to be well to our south.

THROUGH THE END OF MARCH: The colder than average readings look to come to an end in the extended period. We also see a storm system around the 27th through 29th that may bring some stormy conditions to the state if this were to verify. This would be followed by some cooler days as we end the month on a quiet note once again. However things are still likely to change and we’ll watch to see if any trends do develop.
