The recent warm weather and resultant snow melt have lead to conditions that are conductive to ice jams on local streams and rivers across portions of northern Iowa. These ice jams may cause sudden rises in streams that could flood low lying roadways, bridges, and property.

One ice jam has been reported just upstream of the highway C67 bridge in New Hartford that has resulted in the flooding of Terrace Avenue just south of the Beaver Creek bridge. The height of Beaver Creek around and upstream of the ice jam may change quickly in the next few days.

Please relay any flooding you observe to local law enforcement or the National Weather Service.
