Absolutely Beautiful Day Across Iowa Today

TEMPS 392014

If you are absolutely sick and tired of winter, then you must have liked today and are going to like the upcoming forecast. High pressure passed south of the area this morning, and a flow of warm southerly air will return to region today. Temperatures at 4pm were above-average for this time of year, with Sioux City clocking in at 71 degrees, Council Bluffs at 68, Des Moines at 57, and Carroll keeping warm at 54. Some high to mid level clouds are moving east to southeast and should be out of the area by later tonight.

Monday will be another blessing for Iowa. Winds will decrease and temperatures will continue on the warming trend. Morning temperatures should be in the upper 30s to low 40s with highs reaching the mid to upper 60s south, and low to mid 50s north.

We are monitoring potential issues with flooding due to ice jams (as a result of warmer air) in the middle part of the work week, and will only escalate as precipitation arrives in the area on Tuesday.
