SNOW SNOW SNOW: How do you like this? How do you like this? We’re going to have several systems over the next few days bringing some light snows to the area. The first system comes through today bringing perhaps 1-2” of snow across the state. Some areas will get more, others less. The system will be out of the state by the late afternoon into the early evening. Highs today will be in the 20s to around 30 with lows tonight in the teens to around 20. Thursday will feel like a heat wave with readings climbing into the 30s to around 40 across the area. These temperatures may however be a bit too warm given the snow pack on the ground but we’ll go with it at this time. There could be an isolated snow flurry as well with partly to mostly cloudy skies across the state. There could also be some light snow or flurries late Thursday night into Friday in the southern counties but this shouldn’t amount to a whole lot at this time. Another system on Saturday looks to bring a swath of snow to the northern and eastern counties of the state. This could bring another 1-2” with possibly some totals heavier than that. We’ll have a better grasp on that as we get closer to the weekend.

ON TO NEXT WEEK: Sunday will be warm and sunny with 30s and lower 40s across the state, colder where there is more snow on the ground and warmer where there isn’t as much, before a cold front sweeps in late Sunday night into Monday with some rain and or snow at that time. Precipitation amounts look to be minor at this time but we’ll continue to watch it. Tuesday looks to see readings back into the 30s and perhaps 40s depending on amount of snow cover with partly to mostly sunny skies. We may run into a fog issue with melting snow which may lower readings down to near the freezing mark but we’ll get more in detail with that possible event as we head into the weekend and next week. The warm air continues through next Wednesday and Thursday with another system at that time that could bring more precipitation to the area.

EVEN FARTHER OUT: The GFS is still showing a potent system around the 23rd and 24th that may bring some interesting weather to the state. Right now it looks to be in the form of snow but it’s still too early at this time to say for certain if the storm will come or now, we’ll watch it. Another system toward the end of the month is one we may have to watch as well if a trend can be established.
