SNOW AND STILL COLD: Another day, another cold one out there with partly to mostly sunny skies around. Highs today will be in the middle to upper teens across the state. Clouds will increase as the day wears on. Tonight into Saturday a disturbance will move across the state which will bring some light snow. Accumulations at this point look to be in the 1-2” range with some isolated heavier totals. This will not be a big deal but it could cause some travel problems especially on untreated roadways and bridges. That system quickly moves off by Sunday and the cold air returns once again with single digits and teens on Sunday and lows well below zero by Monday morning with clear skies and fairly light winds. It remains chilly through Tuesday with readings in the teens and lower 20s before readings begin to warm at mid-week.

TO NEXT WEEKEND: Another disturbance will pass just to the north of the state on Wednesday, but it may be close enough to graze the northern counties with a little light snow or flurries which should amount to a whole lot at this point. Temperatures will continue to climb into the 20s and even some 30s across the state through the end of the week as the colder air begins to shift to the north and east back into Canada.

EXTENDED PERIOD: Near seasonal temperatures begin the extended period with possible much warmer readings moving in around the 17th of so as the flow continues mainly out of the west. The “warm” weather would look to last until about the 20th or 21st when a system could bring some rain and snow to the area at that time. This looks to be followed by more cold air from Canada. This is still two weeks out and is likely to change plenty between now and then. We’ll continue monitoring.
