COLD AND LITTLE SNOW: The next week or so will feature cold weather with a little bit of snow possible on Saturday. Today and Friday will be partly to mostly sunny. Highs today will struggle to reach the single digits after seeing morning lows this morning well below zero. Friday the highs will reach the teens across the state after another night in the sub-zero category. Snow will begin to move in late Friday night and especially Saturday across the state. Current thinking is that any accumulations are expected to be light, perhaps around an inch or so. Highs will remain in the teens with lows in the single digits above and below zero. Sunday and Monday will be similar to today and Friday with partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the single digits and teens and lows in the single digits above and below zero once again. Heading toward mid-week temperatures will slowly start to rebound as warmer air tries to move in from the southwest.

GOING ON THROUGH: The flow turns back out of the northwest for a few days around the middle of the month that could bring some clipper systems back into the area at that time. Thereafter the GFS wants to bring much warmer weather to the area with possible highs in the 30s and maybe even 40s across the state. Since this is the first time we’ve seen this, confidence is non-existent at this point. A system at the end of the period would be one to watch that could bring an end to this “warmer weather” but we’ll have to keep watching for any trends as we move along.
