SNOW: The sun will be out today with a few clouds increasing from the west as the next storm draws closer. Highs today will be in the teens and 20s. The snow will move in late tonight through the day on Tuesday before ending early on Wednesday morning. Current indications are that a swath of 4-7” of snow will cover the southern and southeastern counties of the state with lesser amounts to the north and northwest. This will be a dry powdery snow that will tend to blow around if the winds happen to pick up, especially on Wednesday as the storm departs the area. This could lead to some blowing and drifting snow at that time which may cause some hazardous travel problems across the state. More updates on this system will be forthcoming on the blog later today and on the FB page as well. Thereafter we have another cold blast that will plummet readings back below zero state wide by Thursday morning with them only rising back into the single digits and lower teens during the day. A few more clouds with some flurries in the far south on Friday will keep readings from dropping too far Thursday night into Friday morning but Saturday morning could also see some readings in the single digits above and below zero at that time.
ON THROUGH THE MONTH: The GFS has completely taken out the chance of another snow storm this weekend as it has now shifted farther to the south completely bypassing the state of any precipitation or any clouds for that matter. We’ll see if that trend continues. As for the rest of the model run, there is no real trends showing up with some random chances of seeing some snowfall during the period with some warmer days mixed in as well. The flow still looks zonal which will keep the temperatures from really dropping into the deep freeze once again but it also brings quick moving storms that will be hard to track even this far out.
