QUICK OVERVIEW: This will be a relatively short report. It is going to remain near to below average regarding temperatures over the next few days and even into the extended period as well. There will be some quick warm ups here and there but the main story will be the cold air coming in from the north and northwest along with some fast moving clipper systems skimming the state with some light snow and flurries. The current storm today will move out with a slight warm up Wednesday ahead of another clipper Thursday that will bring the readings back down to reality. After that, the next storm on Saturday will bring another round of snow. Sunday will see a warm up to near freezing before, you guessed it another front comes down Monday with some snow possible next Tuesday across the northeastern counties. In the extended period, a big polar front crashes through on the 24th that will bring more cold air, possibly readings back below zero for several nights and highs struggling to reach the double digits above zero. All and all the last half of January will be more cold than warm across the state.
