A FEW DISTURBANCES: A quick moving pattern over the next few days is going to bring a few systems through that may bring some light amounts of precipitation, mainly in the form of snow. Today we’ll see a system departing off to our east. Skies will clear from west to east during the day. Highs will be in the 20s north to lower and middle 30s south. Sunday will be the best day of the weekend with partly to mostly sunny skies and readings in the upper 30s through the 40s. Unfortunately with a quick moving pattern, warm air doesn’t stick around long as a front will come through late Sunday night into Monday. It will come through mainly dry with only clouds around here. Another disturbance will be right on its heels late Monday night into Tuesday with some light snow or flurry activity mainly confined to our northeastern counties, however the GFS is hinting that there could be a chance statewide, we’ll have to wait and see. Amounts will be light with perhaps an inch in the northeast and less than that elsewhere. A warm front will move into the state on Wednesday which will bump the temperatures back into the 30s for highs after seeing readings in the 20s on Monday and teens into the lower and middle 20s on Tuesday. This too will come through with only a few clouds and perhaps a bit of precipitation in the extreme northeast that shouldn’t amount to a whole lot either. However another cold front barrels through late Wednesday night into Thursday bringing colder air back in once more. There could be some wraparound snow activity, again mainly targeting the northeastern counties once more.

INTO NEXT WEEKEND: The colder air will last at least into the first part of next weekend with readings moderating back to above seasonal levels. It continues to remain dry as another system bypasses the state to our northeast targeting the eastern Great lakes and New England with some snow.

REST OF THE MONTH: The extended period on the GFS continues to show near seasonal levels regarding temperatures and mainly dry with only a small chance of some precipitation on the 19th and 20th with a disturbance moving through. The pattern looks to change around the 24th with a system moving in with some chances of light snow. This looks to be followed by another storm on the 26th as well. We still have plenty of time to watch this and see if this continues on future model runs.
