MERRY CHRISTMAS From the Iowa Weather Blog.
NORTHWEST FLOW: Cold air and a northwest flow will dominate the beginning of the period with some chances of light snow as well. A clipper will be departing the area today taking the light snow along with it. Readings will be in the teens and 20s for highs today which will slowly moderate as the week draws along. Unfortunately another push of colder air arrives on the 29th with another clipper that may also bring some light snow or flurries as well, mainly for the northeastern counties of the state.
COME ON ALONG TO 2014: The northwesterly flow will continue through the end of the year with another clipper late on the 30th into New Year’s Eve. That may bring some light snow and flurries with some accumulation possible across the northern counties of the state. This looks to be followed by another clipper on New Year’s Day that could bring light snow in as well. The clipper parade looks to continue on the 3rd and again late on the 4th into the 5th of January as well. The pattern looks to relax near the end of the period or the middle of January that may bring temperatures to near seasonal levels in the 20s and lows around 10, but this too could change as we see no real end to the brutally cold weather we’ve been experiencing over the last few days.
