THROUGH THE WEEK OF SNOW AND COLD: A disturbance will be moving out of the state early today taking the snow chances along with it. It will be bringing down more cold air with readings likely holding in the single digits and teens all day, with falling temperatures in the afternoon under mainly sunny skies. Clear to partly cloudy skies and lighter winds will really take a toll on the temperatures tonight with readings well below zero in most areas, with a few above zero temperatures mainly seen in the far west where they begin to rise during the early morning hours as warmer air moves back in. That warmer air will boost readings into the 20s on Thursday across the state. However this is another short time fix as more cold air is in the offing along with a bit of snow late Friday into Saturday. This will be mainly confined to the eastern and southeastern counties of the state, but the cold air will not be confined, it will be making a full charge through the state once more bringing the temperatures back down into the teens for highs and lows will be in the single digits above and possibly below zero as well.

INTO NEXT WEEK: Another weak system may bring some flurries or light snow showers to the state late Sunday night into early Monday and another, Monday night into early on Tuesday. Cold air follows once again heading into the middle of the week with another push coming next Thursday with another bout of snow at that time. We’ll have to watch that in future model runs over the next few days.

CHECKING ON CHRISTMAS: The model run shows seasonally cool readings for the foreseeable future with some bouts of snow mixed in as well. Temperatures look to moderate as we draw closer toward Christmas, but another push of cold air from the north comes in Christmas Eve and this run shows some snow possible Christmas Day across the state. It is noted that the bitterly cold air we’ve been seeing on previous runs is not seen here. We’ll have to see if this trend continues or it flips back to the bitter cold we’ve been seeing. It’s pretty much a wait and see at this point.
