OPERATION SNOWSTORM: Accumulating Snow Possible Tonight

The first ‘big’ winter storm of the season to mention is finally here. The National Weather Service offices across the state have issued Winter Weather Advisories for the northwestern two-thirds of the state from Sunday morning until Sunday night. A weak upper level disturbance over the central to southern plains will bring snow to the area Sunday. Light snow is expected to being later tonight across southwestern Iowa with heavier snow and associated impacts beginning in the early morning. Winds are expected to be out of the southeast at 10 to 15 MPH will cause snow to blow around and reduce visibilities to one to three-quarters of a mile at times. The snow will then end in the early to mid evening. Make sure to use caution on the roads!
