STUFFED UP: Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, the weather will be quite calm across not just the state but mainly across the country for the holiday. Temperatures across the state today will range from the middle 20s north to the middle 30s south with plenty of sunshine around. Another clear night in store tonight for shoppers running to the stores for the Black Friday and even Thanksgiving Night deals. Lows will drop into the teens across the state with clear skies. Friday will see mostly sunny skies around with readings a bit warmer with upper 20s northeast to near 40 southwest.

LEFTOVER TURKEY: A frontal system will move through the state on Saturday but won’t be bringing us any precipitation along it, a few more clouds than anything. It will be dropping readings back into the upper 20s and lower to middle 30s across the state, but it does look to quickly warm back up into the 30s and 40s by Monday. Clouds will be on the increase Tuesday as a new system begins to take shape off to our west. It does look like it will be quite breezy with southerly winds that will boost the temperatures perhaps into the 40s statewide. As the precipitation moves in Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, it may begin as a wintry mix before changing over to light rain during the day on Wednesday. A changeover to snow is possible next Thursday but it will be a close call across the state dependent on the freezing line which will be bisecting the state. The GFS is showing possible moderate to heavy precipitation across the state but whether it’ll be rain or snow is still up in the air at this time. This will be a storm we’ll have to keep an eye on for the coming days.

DECEMBER CHILL: Brutally cold weather will move into the state after the storm departs at the end of next week. This will last through the extended period with several bouts of snow and reinforcing shots of cold air following these snow bouts. Prepare for temperatures to not get much above 20 for highs (although there could be a few times), and also for lows to be below zero several nights with freshly fallen snow on the ground.
