SEASONAL WEATHER: A weak disturbance today could kick off an isolated shower or sprinkle in the northern counties in the afternoon. Otherwise it will be mainly partly to mostly cloudy with highs generally in the 40s to lower 50s. Friday will see readings a few degrees warmer with some more sunshine and the winds back out of the south and southwest once again. Then the next system approaches from the west on Saturday into Sunday. Yesterday it looked as if the storm would come in two pieces, one on Saturday and another on Sunday, but now it looks like Saturday into early on Sunday will be it for the precipitation. Most of it will likely fall in the form of rain with amounts generally between a third and three quarters of an inch. The precipitation should end Sunday morning as cold air filters back into the state. There could be a few flurries or light snow showers through the evening hours on Sunday but nothing too significant at this time.
INTO NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be cool with readings likely in the upper 30s through the upper 40s from north to south. Monday will see a few more clouds than on Tuesday, otherwise there will be quite a bit of sunshine around. The winds turn southerly once again on Wednesday which will boost the temperatures back to near 50 at that time. More rain possible at the end of the week followed by another quick shot of cold air heading into the following weekend.
THANKSGIVING WEEK: Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week looks dry and warm to start but rain will break out late Tuesday night into Wednesday (the big travel day) as another storm approaches. Cold air will come in behind this system and will change the rain over to snow Wednesday night from northwest to southeast. This looks to last into Thanksgiving albeit it looks to dry out some before another wave approaches from the southwest that may give us more snow (rain in the southeast) on Black Friday. This will likely change in future model runs but we’ll continue to watch for any possible travel issues during the holiday week.
