POP GOES THE TEMPS: It will be noticeably warmer today with winds out of the west and southwest with sunshine still abounding across the sky. Highs today will be mainly in the 40s with some lower 50s in the far southwestern counties. Thursday will see a few more clouds around and perhaps an isolated shower mainly along and north of US Hwy 20, although the chances are 20% or less at this point. Any areas that get some rain Thursday into Thursday night may get a trace or a few hundredths at most. Friday will see the winds back out of the south once more and readings a few degrees either side of 50 as a new storm approaches from the west for the weekend.
SYSTEM AROUND THE WEEKEND: The next system will move into the area for the upcoming weekend. This will bring some rain shower activity on Saturday across the area. A few tenths of an inch are possible with the heaviest rain likely being in the eastern counties of the state. There could be a small break Sunday morning before a new wave moves in Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Another push of cold air out of Canada could change this precipitation over to some snow before ending late Sunday night into early Monday morning. It’s too early to determine any potential snowfall accumulations at this time, but we should be able to pinpoint that in the coming days. Heading into the early part of next week, cold high pressure will settle into the area once more taking the temperatures back down into the upper 20s and lower 30s for highs and lows in the single digits and teens (this will be dependent on a number of things, calm winds and any chance of a snow pack on the ground)
ON DOWN THE ROAD: Moderation in temperatures doesn’t look to last long in the extended period before another blast of cold air with some light snow on the 23rd. A break in the action before another snow storm approaches on the 27th and 28th which is Wednesday and Thursday of Thanksgiving week. This will likely change over the next few days so don’t cancel your plans now.
