THROUGH THE WEEKEND: The next several days will be quiet across the state with little if any significant weather occurring. Outside a possible shower Friday into Friday night in the far northern tier of counties, the weather will remain dry through the weekend. Highs today will be in the 40s, with the snowpack areas in NW Iowa seeing some upper 30s. Winds will back around to the southwest on Friday which will help to boost the temperatures back into the upper 40s through the 50s for most of the state. Like mentioned earlier, an isolated shower in the far north is not out of the question, but in any case, there will be a noticeable increase in cloud cover in the northern counties on Friday. Saturday and Sunday continue to look dry with temperatures a few degrees either side of 50.
NEXT WEEK: An arctic push of cold air will arrive early next week and with it will come some accumulating snow beginning late Monday and lasting through Tuesday across the state. A strong 1044mb High will nose into the state Wednesday morning which along with a possible snow pack across the area could bring readings down into the teens or cooler at that time. The colder temperatures look to last through the rest of the week.
EXTENDED PERIOD: Temperatures will moderate back to at least the 50s by the weekend ahead of another system that will move through around the 18-20th. Cooler readings followed by moderation will continue through the end of the period.
