COLD CLIPPERS: We’ll be clipping our way through the next several days with several disturbances that will come out of the west and northwest. Today there will be one that may bring some light rain showers to the northeastern third of the state. The rest of the state will see partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the 50s to lower 60s. A warm front moves through early on Sunday and that will bring readings up into the mid 50s north to mid to upper 60s south with a bit more sunshine, although clouds will linger in the north. This is only a one day respite before more cold air returns later Sunday into the beginning of the new work week. Monday will see cool conditions with a few clouds but a disturbance rotating around the trough may trigger some rain or snow showers Monday night into Tuesday across the state. They should amount to a whole lot and travel should not be impacted at this time. Another disturbance looks to come down the flow Wednesday into Wednesday evening with some rain possibly mixed with some snow but that may be mainly in Wisconsin at this point. Highs during this period will range in the 40s to lower 50s.

THROUGH THE EXTENDED PERIOD: Temperatures will moderate heading into next weekend, back into the 50s and 60s across the state. This doesn’t look to last with another push of much colder air around the 28th into the 29th. Moisture looks to be lacking with this system but a few rain or snow showers could be possible with the best chances across the northeast. Very cold air will filter in and we could see readings the morning of the 30th and Halloween into the teens or 20s. That’s no trick. Highs will struggle to reach the 30s given the low thickness values as well. Temperatures still look to moderate into November.
