STAYING RELATIVELY COOL: Cooler and drier conditions will prevail for the rest of the work week. There could be some clouds later today into tonight across the far southeastern counties that may spark a shower but nothing of significance. Another push of cooler air late on Thursday through the day on Saturday could bring some isolated chances at some light showers that could be mixed with some graupel. Readings will be mainly in the 50s during this time, but may drop into the upper 40s with enough cloud cover around. Another disturbance on Monday could bring a slightly better chance of some light rain across the state.

INTO NEXT WEEK: Another storm system moves through Tuesday into Wednesday morning. This will bring more cold air down with it as well. Rain looks to break out by the afternoon as the cold front sweeps in from the northwest. As night falls, the precipitation may become mixed with a bit of sleet given the 850mb temperatures (the temperature 5000 feet above the ground) will be below the freezing mark. Any possible accumulation would be light and travel won’t be impacted, but it is something to mention at this point.

EXTENDED PERIOD: The beginning of this period looks quite chilly with the possible chance of seeing a few light snow flurries around the 25th. That’s nothing compared to what the GFS is showing for the 28th-30th, with the state getting some decent amounts of rain or perhaps a wintry mix given the height levels. It will also be very breezy if this happens to be correct with more cold air around for Trick or Treaters on Halloween Night. Remember this may still change but one thing that hasn’t been changing over the last several days is that temperatures look to be much colder the latter half of October across the area.
