COOL WEEK: The rest of the week will look cool and somewhat dry after this storm moves out later today. There could be some rain showers lingering in the eastern counties through the morning into the early afternoon hours, otherwise skies will start to clear in all but the northern counties where some wrap-around moisture could bring a few showers there as well. Those clouds will overspread most of the state tonight but by Wednesday they will be clearing off to the east. Temperatures will drop into the 50s to lower 60s for highs through Thursday before another rush of cooler air Friday into the weekend could bring more clouds and perhaps a shower or two with graupel possibly mixed in given the cold air in the upper levels of the atmosphere.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: Another disturbance rotates around the base of the trough Monday night into Tuesday of next week which could bring some clouds and widely scattered showers but nothing that will be too significant. Temperatures will modify a bit through next week with another push of cooler Canadian air rushing in late in the week but more targeting the Great Lakes than Iowa. Another system in the northwesterly flow could bring some rain or (white stuff) to the state the 26th or 27th of October, much cooler air follows in the wake of that system with possible snow showers just to our northeast that may graze the state toward the end of the period. It’s isn’t summer anymore.
