MUCH COOLER AHEAD: Temperatures are going to be dropping this week across the area behind a system that will move into the state later today and Tuesday. This will bring some showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder to the area. Readings today will be in the mid 50s to lower 60s in the western counties where the rain looks to move in during the mid-day or early afternoon hours to the upper 60s to near 70 in the eastern counties where some sunshine will break out for most of the day before the clouds begin to increase from the west. Tuesday looks rather showery across the state with perhaps some peaks of sunshine in the southern counties of the state. Readings will be in the 50s north to lower to middle 60s south. The cooler temperatures look to last through the rest of the week with highs in the upper 50s to middle 60s across the state.

ANOTHER PUSH OF COOL AIR: Another shot from Canada moves in Friday and through the weekend with a new trough digging in across the Great Lakes. A few disturbances will rotate around the base of the trough and this could bring some clouds and perhaps a few light showers to the northern and northeastern counties of the state during the afternoon hours. Some of the showers could contain some graupel given the amount of cold air in the atmosphere. Readings could be held down into the upper 40s in some areas with the possible increase in cloudiness.

INTO THE FUTURE: More active weather in the extended period with some rain next Monday into Tuesday and then again Thursday into Friday. A big upper low situated over Hudson Bay looks to just put the state in the firing line when it comes to cold weather spilling in from our north. Several more of them look likely through the end of October if this model run does verify. It won’t be long before we start to see some snow in these model runs around here.
