RAINY START TO WEEK: Today will be a wonderful sunny day with highs in the 60s to near 70 across the state after a little frost mainly in the western counties, but rain will appear in the forecast Monday and Tuesday with a system that will move in from the west. The eastern counties will likely see some sunshine for most of the day before clouds increase late. They should see another day in the 60s to around 70. The western counties however will not be so lucky with rain moving in by mid-day and spreading eastward. This will tend to lower the readings down into the upper 50s to lower 60s once the rain begins to fall. This will continue overnight into Tuesday with it slowly ending from west to east during the day on Tuesday. Rainfall amounts look to be on the order of a quarter to three quarters of an inch with the heaviest the farther west you are.

MIDDLE TO END OF NEXT WEEK: There could be some lingering clouds and a few showers in the northeastern counties early on Wednesday with skies slowly clearing. Readings look to stay cool with highs in the upper 50s to middle 60s across the state. Cooler air will filter into the state late on Thursday into Friday. There will be some clouds along with that with perhaps a few showers that may have some graupel in them as well. Saturday looks drier but still relatively cool with highs looking to be around 50 or so if not cooler than that given the 850mb temperatures (or temperatures about five thousand feet off the ground will be below the freezing mark.)

MOVING ALONG: The GFS is showing close to seasonal readings to begin the extended period with a possible storm system around the 26th and 27th which will bring another quick shot of colder to the state at that time. Don’t have great confidence at this time with this run with the large swings.
