WARM DAYS AHEAD: Today and Friday will see plenty of sunshine, some breezy conditions out of the south and temperatures climbing into the 80s in many areas both days. It won’t be a “humid” day by summer standards, but now that it’s fall. It will feel warm in any case. This will be ahead of a storm system that will move into the state Friday with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northwestern counties by late in the afternoon and into the evening and overspreading the rest of the state on Saturday. The showers and thunderstorms will move through the state ending in the afternoon over the western counties and late evening into the overnight over the east.

ONE MONTH INTO ANOTHER: The last few days of September will see plenty of sunshine and near seasonal temperatures across the state. As we shift to October on Tuesday the winds veer back around to the south ahead of another storm that will be developing in the Plains. One piece comes out Wednesday of next week that could bring a slight chance of some showers or storms. A more significant system comes in the following day next Thursday with some showers and thunderstorms ahead of that. This looks to last through Saturday morning of next weekend.

THE STORMS OF OCTOBER: The extended period on this model run is more active than previous. Several fast moving systems look to move through the area during this time frame. Examples include on the 6th and 7th of October and then again late on the 8th through the 9th. Another system skims the state on the 11th that looks to bring down much cooler air to the state in the middle of the month. We’ve seen that at other times in the extended period over the last few days so confidence is growing of a possible cold snap coming sometime in the next two to three weeks but we’re still not sure when this will take place as yet.
