GETTING WARMER: Temperatures are going to start trending upward as we head into the end of the week ahead of a storm system that may bring us some shower and thunderstorm activity for the first part of the weekend. Highs today will be in the 70s across the state, but some lower to middle 80s will be possible on Thursday in the western half of the state along with some moderate breezes out of the south.
NEXT SYSTEM: The next system as mentioned moves into the state late Friday into Saturday. The shower and thunderstorm chances look to remain in the western counties of the state during the day on Friday while the rest of the state will see an increase in clouds along with warm temperatures. The rest of the state gets in on the rain on Saturday during the day. A good half inch plus is possible with this system with some areas receiving more and others less. The rain will move out of the western counties during the late afternoon and evening and the eastern counties during the overnight hours into Sunday morning.
INTO NEXT WEEK: Readings will drop back into the 70s for the last two days of September, Sunday and Monday. A frontal system will move through the state on Tuesday into Tuesday night that may bring an isolated shower but the chances look fairly slim with a lack of moisture along the front. The system will be quick moving with another storm possible Thursday through Saturday (which leads us into the extended period). This system will bring some cold air down with it but this run is much warmer than previous runs, nevertheless this run does show quite a bit of rainfall possible next Thursday through Saturday but we’ll have to see a few more runs before we have enough confidence in this solution.
THEREAFTER: The system the weekend after next will slowly spin to our east, but it looks to be close enough that it will keep temperatures cooler especially in the eastern counties of the state. This run shows it to be dry as well with readings moderating toward the end of the model run.
