NO BIG CHANGES: There doesn’t look to be any changes with the weather the next several days outside of a few shower and thunderstorm chances this weekend in the northern part of the state, it will remain dry across the area. Temperatures will be cool through Friday with highs in the lower to middle 80s. Lows at night may drop into the upper 50s tonight in northeast Iowa otherwise lower to middle 60s will be commonplace with much lower humidity.
HEAT WAVE: It’s looking more and more likely that a heat wave will be in store beginning this weekend but more likely Monday through all of next week. This will keep sunshine around, storms away and temperatures well into the 90s. This continues into the extended period, but in a weakness in about ten days will begin to break down the ridge and force it west. That would bring a chance of some organized showers and storms in about ten days or so. This would be the next ‘organized’ chance of rain across the state. By that point, there is going to be a need of rain as some areas are already beginning to dry up across the state and the lack of any rain on top of a heat wave is going bring back the word “drought” into the minds of many across the state.
