RAIN OR NO RAIN: The models continue to show chances of rain that never seem to materialize to more than a few specks on radar. This is a trend that doesn’t bode well given the dry June the state has had of late. The forecast does continue to indicate shower and thunderstorm chances today early followed by a break and then more rain tonight into Saturday morning. Saturday looks mainly clear with plenty of sunshine and temperatures into the upper 80s and lower 90s. Heat indices will be approaching 100° in some areas. Sunday looks to see the shower and storm chances return on an isolated basis in the afternoon and evening. This may effect the Indy Car race at Newton, but things look to be ok at least at this time.

COOLING PERIOD: Next week starts out warm and then cools off as a front moves through Wednesday and readings drop back into at least the lower 80s across the state. This looks to last until the following weekend. Thereafter the confidence is fairly low as the heat ridge we’ve talked about for a while doesn’t make a move toward us as it has on other runs of late. This would keep temperatures tepid for the time being and give us at least some chance to get some rain that if we don’t see any from this latest storm system would be needed across the area. We’ll have to keep an eye on the dry conditions over the next couple of weeks.
