NO JUNE WARMTH: No big changes regarding the lack of summer weather across the area. Temperatures are still trending below average for the next several days with chances of showers and thunderstorms as well. Today however will not be one of those rainy days. We should see some ample sunshine today with readings in the upper 60s to middle 70s across the state. Another storm system approaches the state on Saturday with a threat of showers and thunderstorms from west to east. Some of the storms could be severe with all modes possible mainly across southwestern Iowa southwestward into adjacent states. Sunday could see some chances of rain as well.

PERIODS OF STORMS: With the ridge looking to set up to our south next week, there may be repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms across the state coming in from the west and northwest. This would mainly occur in the evening, overnight into the early morning hours, but this may change as well. MCS’s may roll through the state with some heavy rainfall and perhaps some severe weather as well. We’ll have to keep watching for any subtle changes to the models and forecasts for the possible events next week.
