COOL AND RAINY: It will not be your typical early June across the state this week with readings below average with some showers and a few thunderstorm rumbling around. Severe weather doesn’t look all that likely given the cooler conditions across the area, but some decent rainfalls are possible that could elevate already high river levels across the state but shouldn’t lead to any flash flooding of sorts. Highs today will be in the 60s to lower 70s with showers and storms around. It will not be an all day rain by any means, but the chance is certainly there. Rain continues into Wednesday across the eastern counties as the western counties look to dry out with some peaks of sunshine returning, but readings will remain in the mid 60s to mid 70s across the area.
WEEKEND WET: Another weekend, another chance of showers and thunderstorms across the area. At this time severe weather doesn’t look all that likely with this system either given the cooler conditions that will be around from a high pressure that will be to our northeast. However any rain with already saturated ground won’t be a good thing. Saturday and Sunday look to be wet with periods of rain, again not an all day rain. The system moves off Sunday night but the northwesterly flow that will set up looks to continue an active pattern into early next week as well.
MODERATING UP: The GFS does continue to show readings back to near or perhaps slightly above average by the middle of the month as the ridge begins to build overhead. That will warm us up and dry us out. We may be close enough that we may still get some rain activity, but if this was to pan out (may change), it would be isolated at best.
