COOL DAYS: A refreshing break from the rain of the last week will bring more sunshine to the state along with cooler than average temperatures. Highs today will be in the 60s to near 70 degrees with partly to mostly sunny skies around. Monday will be a repeat performance with temperatures a tad warmer mid 60s to lower 70s across the state.

NEXT SYSTEM: Another system moves into the state late Monday through at least Thursday with a threat of showers and thunderstorms across the area. Severe weather could be possible but we’ll have to wait and see the particulars on that as we draw closer to the event. Rainfall could be significant with perhaps a quarter to three quarters of an inch across the state but any rain right now would not be warranted with many of the rivers running high or still in flood at this time. This system looks to clear the state by Friday with Saturday also looking dry before another storm approaches by Next Sunday.

HEAT RIDGE: The GFS is hinting at a possible ridge developing across the plains in about two weeks time. This would bring very warm weather to that part of the country but around here that would keep us in a slight northwesterly flow which may bring repeated chances for showers and thunderstorms across the region, especially in the overnight hours with any possible MCS’s that could form. This is still far off and may change but we’ll need to continue monitoring for any changes to this forecast in future model runs.
