LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL: We are closing in on the end of this system that has brought a bucket load of rain to the state and widespread major to at times record flooding on area rivers. The Storm Prediction Center does have a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight across the eastern counties of the state. The main threats would be from large hail and damaging winds although a tornado cannot be ruled out. Readings today will be in the 70s and lower 80s depending on the amount of cloud cover we see. Some backwash moisture with a few showers are possible again on Saturday as the storm lifts out to the east. Temperatures will be cooler Saturday with readings in the 60s to mid 70s from west to east.

MORE RAIN POSSIBLE: Not something you want to hear with rivers still flooding across the area, but another storm is forecast to move in Tuesday through Thursday next week with more chances of showers and thunderstorms. It’s still too early to determine severe weather with this system, but we’ll have to keep an eye on it. Readings through the week will be below seasonal levels with upper 60s to middle 70s for highs through Thursday.

FARTHER OUT: The pattern looks a bit less active heading into the middle of the month with temperatures near seasonal levels. No big storm systems are seen on the model but this may and is likely to change as we draw closer to that time period.

FLOODING: Flooding does continue on many rivers across the state, with rain still possible through Saturday albeit only moderately heavy, this will not help with the flooding concerns in those areas.
