SEVERE WEATHER AHEAD: There is a good likelihood that severe weather could again return to the state Sunday and again Monday as a storm moves in from the west. Prior to that today will see a few showers and storms around with a frontal system moving northward across the state. Activity will be more concentrated north to south as the front moves through. Temperatures today will be in the upper 70s to middle 80s across the state. Saturday will be warm and sultry with partly to mostly sunny skies with 80s widespread. Saturday night through Monday is the best chances to see shower and thunderstorm activity return, mainly west of Interstate 35 Saturday night and then statewide Sunday and east of I-35 Monday. All modes of severe weather are entirely possible Sunday and Monday with large hail, damaging straight line winds and perhaps a few tornadoes. Any tornado in the state would end the record streak of seeing no tornadoes in the state which stands at 358 (if there isn’t one today). There is still some uncertainty however with slight deviations that could change the aspect of the possible severe weather in the area Sunday and Monday.

SEMI-QUIET: The storm slowly pulls away Tuesday, but the GFS forms another low pressure center Wednesday over Illinois that could keep more clouds and even a few showers over the eastern counties until early Wednesday before it clears out, otherwise readings look to be near seasonal levels for Late May at this point, 70s and lower 80s. Another system looks to bring more shower and thunderstorm activity to the Plains next Friday. We’ll have to keep an eye on that as to whether that may effect us during the Memorial Day Weekend Holiday next weekend.
