VIDEOS RESUME SUNDAY
FROSTY MORNINGS: Possibly the last frost of the season coming this weekend, late tonight and perhaps Sunday night as well in the east as cold air moves in behind a front that will have moved across the state during the early morning hours today. There may be an early morning shower in the eastern counties otherwise sunshine will be found across the state with highs well below average, in the 50s and 60s.
DRASTIC WARM UP: The cold air doesn’t last long however as a summer preview returns this week. Highs Monday will be in the mid 60s east to low 80s west as warm air quickly replaces the retreating cold shot. We could see the warmest temperatures of the year Tuesday with readings in the 80s to lower 90s. With dew points forecast to be around 60 on Tuesday, this could bring heat indices well into the 90s during the afternoon hours. A cold front will move into the state during the morning hours Wednesday that will bring some showers and thunderstorms to the state. This will cool the readings down into the 70s to lower 80s that day and into the 70s for the rest of the week.
FARTHER OUT: GFS showing a possible storm system affecting the state around the 19th-21st of May that may bring some showers and thunderstorms at that time. Another one around Memorial Day weekend as well. Temperatures do look to stay near or slightly above seasonal averages during this time period. It is too early to determine severe weather possibilities at this time but models have suggested the storm around the 19-21st time period could have some severe weather if this persists in future model runs. We’ll have to wait and see on that over the next few days.
In any case with this hot weather forecast for Tuesday, this would be a good opportunity to check your AC to be sure it is in good working order.
